Nzinga's Daughters has developed a theme around the Underground Railroad and through poetry stories, and song they reveal coded message that were hidden in the Negro Spirituals and everyday objects. They have performed this Underground Railroad program at various schools in Connecticut & Massachusets; the Riverfront Recapture in Hartford for the Amistad celebration in 2000 & 2001, OPSail 2000, First Night Hartford in 1995, 1996, 1998 & 2001, many churches, museums, & libraries, as well as Gettysburg University in Gettysburg, PA. They were presenters at the Hot Schools program at Quinnipiac College for the CT Commission on the Arts. The Underground Railroad presentation is acapella except for various percussion instruments. This program is suitable for all ages and includes a story, poetry, songs, and sometimes a children's game with audience participation where applicable.
